The Interview

There are certain realities that will be difficult to place in neat boxes of theories and frameworks. There are certain realities that are beyond the reach of “organized comprehension.” Some realities are easier than others, but those that are difficult remain to be oversimplified in the great quest for a “single story” that everyone can accept and live with. I started my 3rd leg of fieldwork in May where I had to come to terms with my limitations as a researcher running against time to finish my PhD.

But I also saw more opportunities to express beyond the academic arena. This short story is an amalgamation of the stories I heard back home and in Peru (where I do my PhD research). I dedicate this story to the people, the communities whom this society keeps forgetting in pursuit of a single, colonized future.
